my head is spinning, so blow me one last kiss

In her left hand was a travel mug filled with steaming coffee, and in her right was a pile of books she needed for studying. Most of her friends were still busy in class, but she had had all morning classes, allowing her the afternoon free. It was nice, to get some quiet time, and Ashton loved the library. The biggest reason she was here was because she had put this essay off long enough. It was due in a week, and if she wanted a worthy grade, it would have to get done. Smiling as a silent greeting to the librarian, the blond shuffled her way to the stairs, making her way to her favorite section to work. To the top left, there was a little desk by the window that gave her a beautiful view of the garden outside, and also kept her far enough away where most people wouldn't notice her. Reaching her desk, the blonde dropped her bag next to the computer, collapsed into the hard, ridged chair and logged onto the machine ready to do a computer search for any books she may need... But first.... Facebook. It seemed like the perfect distraction, and Ashton was dying to know if her friends had put up the pictures of them from Cape Cod a couple of days ago. It had been fun, with constant swimming at the beach and shopping. Smiling to herself, Ashton clicked through the photographs of her family, desperately trying to reach the party pictures. Her sister and she were friends on facebook, and every once in a while Samantha would post pictures of the family. Ever since her mother kicked her out for wanting a higher education (heaven forbid) they had been estranged. It seemed like a petty reason, but her mother was stubborn. Ashton missed them desperately, and when she looked at pictures, she wondered if she had made the right decision. Deep down, she knew she had, but that didn't help. Opening up Microsoft Word, she studied the blinking cursor. Honestly, she hated writing, but this essay was important...or at least important to getting a grade in the class. Stiffing a yawn, she stretched her fingers and began typing. An hour or two later and Ashton wanted to die. So many of the text books she had selected had proved to be useless from what she could see (she hated it when that happened) and she still had two more paragraphs to write before she was satisfied! Rubbing her palms into her eyes, Ashton yawned again before reaching over for her huuuge cup, “nooo!” she moaned quietly- although there were few people in the library (and even fewer on this floor)- as nothing reached her lips. She’d drank it all. Blinking and rolling her eyes in annoyance, she looked back at the screen. The white paper background to Word was depressing and she rubbed her eyes. It was gonna be a long day. |
