overflow: auto; font-size: 9px;]it turns out nixon grey isn't the only boy born into the grey family name. unfortunately, the existence of his half brother is quite a shadow on the family and therefore, remains a secret to most of high society. lydia and teller grey didn't marry for love: they married solely to keep their fortunes intact. because of this simple fact, teller often cheated on his wife, not caring if it hurt her feelings or not. however, one fateful night, he would slip up and impregnate his current fling, leaving her to return to his wife. ironically, he got his wife pregnant soon thereafter as they consummated their marriage for the simple reason to create a male child. nixon was born from that unholy union. lysander, however, was born a month earlier to a young socialite. her parents kept tess boarded up in new york in a place called the ostroff center where no one would see her, and she could give birth to her bastard child out of the scrutiny of the cameras. unaccustomed to the stress of being pregnant, tess slowly lost her mind before she gave birth to her son. when lysander was only a month old, his young mother lost her mind completely and committed suicide. the baby was taken in by his grandparents who, although they were ashamed of his creation, magnanimously decided to take in the child. upon his mother's death, however, they decided the father must be contacted, and they informed teller grey of his hapless mistake. despite his wife's adamant refusal to accept his bastard son into their household, teller did a rare thing in insuring lysander be well taken care of. he was moved to a private estate outside of boston and cared for by his own personal team of caregivers, nannies, and butlers. his family became the help, and lysander grew up a bouncing, happy child in the company of so many simple people. because he was never cast beneath the shadow the grey family thanks to his black sheep status, he reaped the benefits of their fortune without the pain. he inherited the brighter happier side of his mother, but the touch of severity from his father gave him a darker side which would sometimes throw him into a deep depression. the only people able to pull him out of this were his maternal grandparents, and even then he would sometimes spend hours at a time in the dark of his room, tears sliding silently down his face. when lysander turned thirteen, his father decided he must be integrated more fully into the family. he was brought into their home and set up with his own suite, and that's where the hatred began. his half-brother nixon despised him for the simple fact that he was technically the firstborn grey son, and his step mother loathed everyone and he just happened to be at the top of her list. he became an enigma among them, and his father was too busy earning his fortune to spend any time with the son he'd so carelessly created. soon thereafter, lydia had him sent away to boarding school in the family's home country of england, and he was thankful for the escape. unlike nixon, he learned to lean on the support of his friends more than the family he'd never had, and he became an outgoing, playful young man. he was athletic and loved lacrosse especially. he dated around and swiftly became one of the most popular boys in his school. during the holidays, he would sit silently at the dinner table, bearing the brunt of his step-mother's hatred for him, and withering beneath the intense glares of his brother. he would never be accepted in their family, and he knew it. lydia made it no short matter to call him a bastard the moment he entered her home, and he didn't pretend to love her. at eighteen, lysander willingly moved out of their household and into college in california where he trained to become a veterinarian. upon earning his degree, his father mysteriously urged him to return to boston. lysander was the only person to know teller grey was dying before it happened. to him, it wasn't sudden, and he didn't mourn the man. he'd never known him well enough to do so. unfortunately, the moment lydia found out he'd known her husband was going to die (despite the fact she was thankful the man was gone), she succinctly made certain lysander was cut out of the will. she worked her evil magic and insured her son was the one to earn the entire inheritance, a fact that backfired in her face when she was left with nothing. not surprising at all, nixon took over grey enterprises and became a billionaire before thirty, while lysander lived a simple life as a veterinarian in downtown boston. he made enough money to be happy, and he didn't need anything from that family. he still doesn't. however, he can't seem to escape their brutal wrath no matter how hard he tries. |
