it's the kiss of life,
in the three months that vienna had been seeing johnny giancola she had not been very keen on bringing her around her uncle nate's home. her uncle had been gracious the few times that johnny had been over, leaving the two of them to have total access to the house without hovering around. but vienna had this constant fear that her uncle would confront him and spill pieces of her past that she had not been yet ready to tell. there was not a whole lot that johnny knew about vienna, just the basics and not much more. but he had been completely trusting of the little brit, aware of the fact that her past held a lot of looming secrets. he had told her that he didn't mind being kept in the dark, because he knew that when vienna was ready she would spill her entire soul to him. that was what vienna loved most about johnny, the fact that he had never expected anything out vienna. he accepted her for everything that she was, adoring all of her flaws and making her feel beautiful in her own skin. he had been doing plenty for her lately, and now she was figuring that is was finally time for to repay the favor. which was why she had called him up one morning, telling him that he would need to clear his schedule plans. why? because he was invited over the day household for dinner, where he would be meeting her uncle nate. it was a huge step forward for her, but since they had been in an established relationship for a quarter of a year, it seemed fitting that he finally got to meet the man who was supporting her. nate was also surprised with her abrupt decision, telling her that was pleased to finally be meeting johnny. vienna had spoken constantly about him, since he was the only golden spot in her whole life.
"babe, you're coming over for dinner at seven. i hope you don't have anything else on your schedule, because uncle nate will be awfully disappointed if you can't make it," vienna chirped into her phone, talking to johnny's answering machine for the second time of the day. he hadn't answered her earlier in the morning, leaving vienna to figure that he was still asleep. now, with the time closer to one in the afternoon, she was puzzled, trying to think of where he could be. with no answer to her own question, she left him another voice mail before going on with her to do list. it was nerve wracking for her to have to arrange a dinner on such a short notice, even if it was by her own doing. everything had to be perfect, or else she would feel like she completely failed at the end of the night. the only thing comforting her was the thought of how the last dinner they shared had ended up panning out. vienna's face broke into a foolish grin, thinking that she had never been able to eat any meal without thinking of the magical encounters that had happened. vienna was still exaggerating about all that needed to be done. all she had to was inform the cook of what she wished to be served and go and kindly ask the cleaning staff with they could do a thorough cleaning of the dining room and set out exactly what she instructed. what was more of a hassle was trying to figure out exactly what as suitable for dinner, since she was eating with both her uncle and boyfriend. her mind was absolutely spinning, she couldn't think of anything that was both classy and flirty. so what did she do to settle the dispute? grabbed the first dress out of her closet and based her outfit around it.
seven o'clock rolled around sooner than expected and vienna was rushing out of her room, having just slipped on her heels. she hadn't bothered with her hair, because it was flat and tame, and mostly because she was feeling lazy. johnny had not been given a key to the house, since it was not her own home, but he knew that uncle nate left the front door unlocked if he were home. it would be okay for him to come enter the house unannounced, but vienna knew that he would be a gentleman and ring the doorbell. she had not been quick enough, because johnny had already rung the doorbell and uncle nate had done the honors of opening the door. her nerves began to jump at the sound of the door opening and she couldn't help but scurry, wanting to see how uncle nate would handle meeting johnny."hello johnny," he cordially said, holding out his hand and looking at him with a decent smile. they shook hands and nate beckoned him in, securing the door closed behind him. "i see the itlalian in you," he said, his deep laugh booming in the hallway, a comforting sound to vienna. "nate, johnny. it's good to know you two are getting on well," vienna called out, plastering a big smile onto her face. she knew they had only spoken a few words together, but she would not allow things to become terse between the two. she nodded at uncle nate, stepping closer to the two of them. it was not remarkable that she was unafraid to peck johnny on the lips in the presence of her uncle. he knew that the two of them were quite serious, and he went as far to encourage their relationship. taking hold of johnny's hand, she looked back at the two men before stepping forward, knowing they would follow. "i've had the cook make crab stuffed chicken for us. it should be delicious," vienna chirped, comfortable with supplying the conversation for the time being.
