"Get the fuck out of here. I'm not going to the zoo."
Finn complained openly, his arms still wrapped around his pillow as he kept himself in bed. He was hurting from the night he had treated himself to, hung over at best. He had blacked out, which was exactly what he wanted to do after everything that he had been experiencing lately, and now he was being bothered by the sister of the man he was not too fond of at the moment. He was going to shoot something very soon if he wasn't left alone in his peace and quiet. However, he could feel her bouncing at the end of his bed and he grumbled furiously about how people really didn't know when to leave him well enough alone. "Kahlan. Go. Away." He finally muttered tersely at her, burying his face in his pillow so that he wasn't bothered by the light of day. However, apparently, it was mid-afternoon and Kahlan didn't see the point to him laying around all day long. If she knew how much he had drank last night to get to his black out stage, she would leave him alone. However, he would keep her in the dark instead and tried kicking her off of his bed. It was to no avail. When Kahlan had her mind set to something, there was no convincing her.
"Alright, alright! Fuck, woman. Get out so I can change."
He muttered in irritation, obviously cranky. Today was not going to be an enjoyable day with Finn in tow. But seeing as she didn't seem to care, he wouldn't either. Pushing himself up from the mattress with a groan, he stumbled out of bed, crashing into the bathroom rather ungracefully thanks to his massive hang over. Grabbing the bottle of Gatorade that was propped on his sink, he downed it with a gulp, then started running the water for the shower. He cleaned himself up in only ten minutes, and was soon pulling a pair of jeans up over his thinner hips. Yanking on a solid colored tee shirt, he grabbed his wallet, his phone, and his leather jacket, making his way out of the pool house with a none too pleased expression on his face. Walking around to the front of the large estate, he huffed when he saw the car before them. Apparently he was being expected to drive. He was going to kill her. He was thankful to see that Asher was going along to help ease his suffering, but the boy looked about as miserable as he did. This had to be some strict form of torture, really. He didn't understand it. Getting into the door, he slammed the door behind him and didn't bother to do his seat belt. "I don't even want to go. Why do I have to drive?"
One look at Asher silenced him for the most part. The boy looked paler than a sheet and he sighed, knowing there was something off with the youngest Selwyn that no one seemed to want to talk about. Ignoring it for the time being, he focused on steering the car out of the mansion and driving along at a reckless pace, which did nothing to help Asher's queasy state of being, but he was sure it pissed Kahlan off, and that pleased him. Reaching the zoo, he paid the parking price, complaining about being robbed blind, and soon parked the car. Getting out, he grabbed his sunglasses and shoved them onto his face, steaming as he stood, waiting for Kahlan to lead the way.
---
Asher really wasn't in the right shape to be going to the zoo, his brothers knew this. But they wanted him to get out of the house and what better way to do it then go out with their sister? He really hoped that she didn't have big plans for today because he was simply exhausted. But he got ready obediently, pulling a grey sweatshirt on over his slowly shrinking bulk. His muscle mass was not what it once was, and it had only been two weeks since he started treatment. Glad that he shaved his head in the first place, he didn't want to chance Kahlan seeing the spots that were missing hair, and he grabbed the baseball cap to hide his appearance from his sister. Grabbing sunglasses as well, he shuffled out of the bedroom and was soon waiting by the car while Kahlan got the enjoyable task of getting Finn. Asher decided that standing wasn't such a good idea anymore, and he climbed into the back seat of the car. Kahlan got in soon after that and Asher rested his head against the window, making it look as if he was taking a small nap. He had been woken up after all.
He felt Finn get into the car in a huff, hearing his words. That brought a smile to his face, but the man seemed to settle down after a moment and Asher was content on listening to Finn and Kahlan bicker all of the way there. They were already so much like an old married couple and they had no idea. Having heard what had happened earlier in the week, Asher could only be amused by it all. He knew Connor was furious, but there was nothing that could be done now. Resisting the urge to laugh out loud, he was more than glad when they arrived, for his nausea was about to hit an all new level. Excusing himself from his sister and Finn, he hurried into the bathroom and emptied the contents of his stomach. Sighing when he finished, he went to the sink, rinsing his mouth out to the best of his ability. Reaching into his pocket, he grabbed the gum and then slipped his sunglasses on. Walking back into the sunlight, he offered his sister a smile. "Alright, I'm ready. Let's go." Finn looked less than thrilled.
---
As they walked along, Finn complained about absolutely everything that he could think to complain about. He wasn't going to make this easy for Kahlan, simply because she pulled him out of bed when he was suffering majorly from a hang over. "It's too hot. This place smells. Why in the world did you want to come here in the first place? It sucks. I could have a better zoo. In fact, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to open a zoo and it's going to be better than this shit hole." He explained petulantly, ignoring any slaps he might be getting from the young Irish woman along the way. His words had Asher smiling, so that was something at least. As the three of them walked along, Finn was suddenly aware of a scream off to the distance. Tensing immediately, he watched as Asher grew on edge as well, and then gently pulled his own hand to his hip, feeling for his firearm. "Asher, take Kahlan.." He explained softly, not knowing what to expect.
And that was when he saw the tiger strolling down the middle of the sidewalk, looking confused and agitated.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me. Let's go to the zoo Finn. It'll be fun Finn. Don't worry about the tiger walking down the sidewalk Finn. Shit. Shit, shit, shit."
He swore openly, pushing Asher and Kahlan along. However, they were suddenly face to face with a small herd of zebras, and Finn had to grab Kahlan's arm to pull her out of the way. It was then that Asher stepped up next to him, asking about what they should do. "We need to get out of here, that's what." He instructed them, both of them turning their backs on Kahlan. And that was when Finn heard Kahlan's cry. Turning swiftly on his heel, he saw Asher pivot out of the corner of his eye and they both turned as one to stare at the horror that had befallen Kahlan. Finn's gun was up in a minute, his finger resting easily on the trigger. "Get your hands off of her, you fucking piece of shit." He snarled viciously, staring at the one woman that he hated more than anyone on this earth. Anya. He was going to put a bullet through her head, or at least try. But it seemed Asher had other ideas.
---
Seeing the fear in his sister's face, Asher's heart broke. They were supposed to protect her, and now she was in the hands of the mafia's greatest enemy. He couldn't let Kahlan get taken. There was no way that it could happen. Connor would be impossible to deal with if his precious baby sister was a Russian puppet. Thinking quickly, he knew that he could offer himself up as a trade. He was dying anyway, there was no need for anyone else to suffer. Praying that Anya couldn't and wouldn't read the weakness of his body because of a disease that he could not control, he raised his hands suddenly, dropping his gun on the ground so that Anya could see that he was unarmed. "Stop, just stop. You don't have to force anyone to go with you, or do anything." He said quietly, hearing Finn tell him to get back but ignoring him.
"Take me instead. I'll go willingly. I won't fight you. I'll walk out of here with you without even causing a scene. You have my word." He remembered the conversation he had with Anya online and he hoped that she had gathered some of her respect through his ability to not judge her. Holding up his hands, he took a step closer, slowly, watching Anya without looking at his sister. He knew she would be against this, but he would protect her with everything he had. "It's an easy deal, Anya."

YOU ARE. YOU OWE ME, YOU ARSE," SHE POINTED OUT, SMACKING HIM ON HIS KIDNEY BUT NO WHERE NEAR HARD ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY DO ANY PHYSICAL PAIN OR DAMAGE. SHE WAS STILL MIFFED AT HIM FOR NOT TELLING HER WHAT HAD HAPPENED THE DAY SHE'D GOTTEN DRUNK, AND SHE WAS HOLDING IT OVER HIS HEAD AS HER BARGAINING CHIP TO ESSENTIALLY GET ANYTHING SHE WANTED.
LEANING AGAINST THE END OF THE BED WITH HER KNEES, SHE PUSHED AGAINST IT, BOUNCING THE BED WITH HIM IN IT. SHE SMILED IMPISHLY AS HE COMPLAINED, TELLING HER TO GO AWAY, BUT SHE REFUSED TO RELENT. JUMPING ON THE END OF THE BED, SHE CRAWLED UP BESIDE HIM AND GRABBED THE SECOND PILLOW, WHACKING HIM RESOLUTELY ACROSS HIS BACK. HE ATTEMPTED TO KICK HER OFF THE BED IN RESPONSE, AND SHE MANEUVERED OUT OF THE WAY IN TIME TO KEEP FROM BEING SPILLED OUT ON THE CARPET.
HEARING HIM ACQUIESCE TO HER DEMANDS, SHE SMIRKED TRIUMPHANTLY AND EVACUATED THE ROOM, STRAIGHTENING HER FLOWING WHITE TOP, BEDECKED WITH METALLIC SILVER AND GOLD DROPS ON THE BODICE, OVER THE BROWN LEGGINGS WHICH HUGGED HER SLENDER FRAME. THE LEGGINGS HAD BEEN GIVEN TO HER BY ELI WHO COULD NO LONGER WEAR THEM THANKS TO HER OVERLY-PREGNANT FORM, AND SHE WAS THANKFUL THEY WEREN'T TOO LONG FOR HER SINCE SHE WAS QUITE A BIT SHORTER THAN HER FUTURE SISTER-IN-LAW.
PRACTICALLY SKIPPING AS SHE ROUNDED THE POOL AND WENT AROUND THE HOUSE INSTEAD OF THROUGH IT, SHE ARRIVED ON THE DRIVEWAY AND COVERED HER EYES AGAINST THE SUN TO SEE HER YOUNGER BROTHER ASHER HUDDLED IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE PASSENGER VEHICLE SHE'D COMMANDEERED FOR THE DAY. SHE'D ALREADY ATTEMPTED TO BE THE DRIVER, BUT OF COURSE, CONNOR HAD RESOLUTELY SHUT HER DOWN AND DEMANDED THAT FINN DRIVE. ALTHOUGH HE WASN'T THRILLED ABOUT THE OUTING - FOR HIS OWN REASONS THAT HE DIDN'T EXPLAIN - HE WAS LESS THRILLED WITH THE PROSPECT OF HER DRIVING. HE WAS AN ARSE WHEN IT CAME TO WOMEN DRIVERS, AND SHE'D SMACKED HIM REALLY GOOD WHEN HE'D TOLD HER SHE WASN'T ALLOWED TO DRIVE ANY OF HIS CARS, BUT SHE'D GIVEN IN IN THE LONG RUN. AS LONG AS SHE GOT SOME FRESH AIR AND GOT TO DO WHAT SHE WANTED, THEN SHE DIDN'T CARE. SHE WAS IN A CONTRARY MOOD.
SETTLING HERSELF IN THE CAR, SHE PROPPED HER FEET UP ON THE DASHBOARD - DISOBEYING CONNOR'S STRICT COMMAND THAT NO ONE PUT THEIR FEET ON THE DASHBOARD OF ONE OF HIS CARS EVER - AND GLANCED TOWARD FINN AS SHE NOTICED HIM ADVANCING TOWARD THE CAR. IT WASN'T LIKE HE HAD TO BRUSH HIS HAIR OR PUT HIS MAKE-UP ON SO SHE REALLY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TOOK HIM SO LONG.
RAISING AN EYEBROW AT HIM AS HE INSTANTLY BEGAN COMPLAINING THE SECOND HIS BUTT HIT THE SEAT, KAHLAN ROLLED HER EYES AND PULLED HER FEET DOWN FROM THE DASHBOARD BEFORE BUCKLING HER SEATBELT. "BECAUSE CONNOR IS A BIGGER JERK THAN YOU, AND HE WOULDN'T GIVE ME THE KEYS. I'M STILL WILLING TO DRIVE THOUGH IF YOU WOULD LIKE," SHE PIPED IN FACETIOUSLY, SMILING SWEETLY OVER AT HIM AS SHE HELD OUT HER HAND FOR THE KEYS.
HOWEVER, JUST TO IRRITATE HER, HE REVVED THE ENGINE AND DROVE AS WILDLY AS POSSIBLE THE ENTIRE WAY THERE. WHEN HE STARTED COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PARKING FEE, SHE SHOOK HER HEAD AND SMILED TO HERSELF. "ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE NOT SOMEONE'S GRANDMA? BECAUSE YOU SOUND LIKE ONE." SHE WRINKLED HER NOSE PETULANTLY AT HIM JUST IN TIME FOR HIM TO GUN THE ENGINE ONE LAST TIME WHICH THREW HER OFF BALANCE AND SHE ALMOST SMACKED HER HEAD ON THE DASHBOARD FROM THE JOLT. GRIPPING HER SEATBELT TIGHTLY IN HER CLENCHED FIST, SHE GLARED OVER AT HIM WHEN THE CAR FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. "YOU ARE THE WORST DRIVER IN THE HISTORY OF DRIVING. WHOEVER GAVE YOU A LICENSE SHOULD BE FIRED AND PUT IN FRONT OF A FIRING SQUAD," SHE QUIPED, PULLING HER LIGHTWEIGHT SHIRT DOWN OVER HER THIGHS BEFORE STALKING OFF IN TO THE ZOO WITH THE TWO MALES BEHIND HER.
SHE WAS FORCED TO HALT HER IRRITATED STOMP IN TO THE PARK AS ASHER EXCUSED HIMSELF TO THE RESTROOM. CROSSING HER ARMS OVER HER CHEST, SHE LEANED BACK ON THE HALF WALL AROUND THE BUILDING, OPENLY IGNORING FINN AND EXAMINING THEIR SURROUNDINGS. SHE SUCCEEDED IN GIVING HIM THE SILENT TREATMENT LONG ENOUGH FOR ASHER TO ARRIVE, AND SHE BOUNCED WHEN SHE SAW HIM, THANKFUL FOR HIS NEUTRAL PRESENCE.
"OH! GUM!" SHE YIPPED, SNATCHING IT FROM HIS HAND AND TAKING A PIECE WITHOUT BOTHERING TO OFFER ANY TO FINN. IN FACT, SHE STUCK HER TONGUE OUT AT HIM AS SHE STUFFED THE GUM IN ASHER'S POCKET AND WRAPPED HER ARM THROUGH HIS AS THEY STARTED OFF. OF COURSE, HER BROTHER IRRITABLY SMACKED HER AWAY, BUT SHE MERELY SMILED CUTELY AT HIM AND DANCED AWAY FROM HIM.
HEARING FINN COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE, SHE SIGHED AND ROLLED HER EYES DRAMATICALLY AT HIM AS SHE WALKED BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM. "STOP COMPLAINING. IT'S NOT LIKE A TIGER IS GONNA EAT YOU OR SOMETHING, YOU WHINER," SHE GRIPED AT HIM. SHE WHEELED AROUND AND HIT HIM FOR MAKING FUN OF THE ENTIRE PLACE, BUT OF COURSE HE CONTINUED. SHE OPENED HER MOUTH TO RETORT ONCE MORE WHEN THE SCREAM SPLITTING THE AIR CAUGHT HER ATTENTION AND HER BLOOD RAN COLD.
SHE SPUN WITH HER BROTHER AND FINN, LOOKING FOR THE SOURCE OF THE SOUND. SHE HEARD FINN ORDER ASHER TO REMOVE HER, AND SHE FROWNED IN DISAGREEMENT. "NO, ASHER, STOP IT," SHE FOUGHT AGAINST HIM, PULLING AWAY FROM HER BROTHER EASILY DUE TO HIS WEAKENED CONDITION AS A RESULT OF HIS LUKEMIA TREATMENTS. AS SHE DID SO, SHE SPUN TO SEE A GORILLA ROAR A HUNDRED YARDS AWAY, AND HER JAW FELL OPEN AS SHE BACKED IN TO FINN WHO WAS BUSY WITH HIS OWN SURPRISE ON THE OTHER SIDE.
"WHAT... IS GOING ON?" SHE ASKED IN A FRIGHTENED VOICE. HEARING THE BEAT OF HOOVES, SHE TURNED TO PEER OVER FINN'S SHOULDER AT A HERD OF ZEBRAS ADVANCING ACROSS THE ZOO. SHE SUCKED IN A SURPRISED GASP AS FINN PUSHED HER BEHIND HIM.
SUDDENLY, SHE WAS SHUT OFF BEHIND THE TWO OF THEM, AND SHE STUMBLED BACKWARD. CATCHING HER BALANCE ON THE RAILING AROUND THE ENCLOSURE BEHIND HER, SHE GLANCED TO HER SIDE AND REALIZED A MASSIVE SNAKE WAS BEING CHASED BY ONE OF THE ZOOKEEPERS, AND SHE SCREAMED. SHE WAS DEATHLY AFRAID OF SNAKES. HER BODY INSTANTLY REACTED, AND SHE LEAPT AWAY FROM THE SCENE. TOO SOON, HER ARMS WERE PINNED BEHIND HER BACK AND SHE THOUGHT FOR A MOMENT FINN HAD GRABBED HER AGAIN AND WAS GOING TO FORCE HER TO LEAVE THE ZOO.
SHE ATTEMPTED TO PULL HER ARMS AWAY FROM HER ASSAILANT, BELIEVING SHE WAS IN THE GRASP OF HER BROTHER OR FINN, BUT SUDDENLY A SHARP PAIN IN THE FLESHY TISSUE ABOVE HER RIGHT HIP MADE HER GASP. GLANCING DOWN, HER MOUTH WAS SUDDENLY SMOTHERED BY A GLOVED HAND AND HER EYES WIDENED IN SURPRISE. THE NEEDLE PRICK IN HER BACK THROBBED BUT FADED TO A DULL ACHE AS HER MOUTH WAS FORCED OPEN AND A HANDFUL OF PILLS WERE SHOVED INTO HER MOUTH. SHE GAGGED ON THEM, SHAKING HER HEAD AND TRYING TO PULL AWAY BUT UNABLE TO DO SO.
SHE BEGAN GAGGING AND SWALLOWING INVOLUNTARILY, INHALING SEVERAL OF THE PILLS BEFORE THE GLOVED HAND RELEASED HER FACE AND SHE SPIT THE REST OF THEM ON THE GROUND. THE MOMENT THE PILLS WERE OUT OF HER MOUTH, SHE SCREAMED, HER VOICE ECHOING ACROSS THE OPEN ENCLOSURE. SHE FELT THE LETHARGY SEEP IN TO HER SYSTEM AND THE THROBBING OF THE NEEDLE PRICK IN HER BACK PINGED IN TIME WITH HER HEARTBEAT. HER BODY BEGAN TO SHAKE AND HER HEART RATE INCREASED IN PANIC AND FEAR AS HER HEAD WAS HAULED BACKWARD, SUCCESSFULLY SHIELDING THE WOMAN WHO HELD HER.
FEAR SWEPT THROUGH KAHLAN AS SHE REALIZED WHO HAD A HOLD ON HER. IT WAS NONE OTHER THAN THE LEADER OF THE RUSSIAN MAFIA HERSELF, AND KAHLAN, HAVING NO EXPERIENCE WITH THE MAFIA SINCE A YOUNG AGE, WAS INSTANTLY AFRAID. SHE HAD A HEALTHY FEAR FOR PEOPLE WHO COULD KILL HER, AND SHE KNEW THIS WOMAN COULD DO JUST THAT.
SUDDENLY, SHE HEARD HER BROTHER'S VOICE THROUGH THE DIN OF PEOPLE SCREAMING AND ANIMALS KEENING PANICKEDLY. HE WAS OFFERING HIMSELF AS A TRADE. NO. THAT WOULD NOT HAPPEN. HER GREEN EYES FLICKERED OPEN AND SHE LOOKED AT HIM, BUT HE CAREFULLY AVOIDED HER GAZE.
"NO...ASHER..." SHE ARGUED, HER TONGUE FEELING THICK AND HER HEAD SWIMMING FROM THE SLEEPING PILLS THAT WERE ALREADY BEGINNING TO SEEP IN TO HER SYSTEM ADDED TO WHATEVER HAD BEEN INJECTED IN HER HIP.
"ASHER, NO!" SHE REPEATED MORE FORCEFULLY, PULLING AGAINST ANYA'S GRASP BUT LOSING THE FIGHT INSTANTLY. SHE WAS NO MATCH FOR A WOMAN AS TRAINED AS ANYA. SHE WAS DESIGNED FOR BALLS AND GIRLY THINGS, NOT COMBAT. SHE COULD BARELY LIFT ANYTHING, HOW WAS SHE EXPECTED TO OFFER A WORTHWHILE FIGHT TO THIS WOMAN? tag: finn words: a ton template by eliza @ shadowplay & shine |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 420px; border-top: #bb8877 8px solid; border-bottom: #bb8877 10px solid; background-color: #ccbbaa;]
[atrb=width,400] It's a weeping and a moaning and a gnashing of teeth ; believe Like clockwork, all of her plans were falling into place and going well. To soon this city would be cloaked in a darkness, washed over all the buildings and down into the ground, no light except for cellphones and flashlights. Panic rising, she could feel it in the air as she made her way to her possible final destination. It was almost as if she was high off of her success, but she was grounded enough not to mess anything up for herself. While she had Konstantine do his fair share at the police department and the harbor, she took care of the more assaults that could be seen on a more personal level. Part of her took pride in assaulting people’s minds, she wasn’t always a physically violent woman, preferring mental assaults, but it didn’t mean she wasn’t capable. When you were raised the way she was anything could be used as a weapon, it didn’t just have to be a gun, knife, or bomb. She could make anything her weapon, but Anya found mental assaults a more suitable weapon for her cause over pistols and revolvers. She couldn’t say that she did not or would not get physical, which would be a lie.
Anya didn’t lie.
Thinking of the simple man she left in his clinic now full of carnage and death, she only hoped she broke his spirit in a fashion that seemed suitable. He was so terribly quaint, she couldn’t help herself from tampering with him. Killing all the animals in his veterinary clinic was a mental assault on their owners who cared too much. Anya wasn’t a woman who fancy dogs nor cats nor any sort of animal. They were a waste of time in her eyes and she thought the people of Boston who once trusted this man to keep their beloved pets could no longer do so. One, they would have no pet to have him care to, and two, if they got another pet they would choose the woman on the other side of Boston. A smile growing on her features, he thought of that woman and how she begged, she would try hard to keep her business a float and she knew she had to pay in the mafia – that was the only reason she was spared the value of her business. Now weekly would she turn in money or else.
In that woman’s good favors, they offered a protection over her life and the livelihood of her business. Severely damaging Lysander Grey’s reputation and currently, his pride, self-esteem, what have you – only worked well for the other woman who should have considered the man a threat to her success. He was temporarily taken care of until he got his feet beneath him, but Anya was positive it would take him awhile. Fully knowing the fact that she would return to harass and bother this man. Never letting him grow out of the assault she unleashed on him. She had raped him, she was aware and she didn’t have any shame in knowing that she did. He was too simple and he needed more darkness in her opinion. So she helped him along, helped him fester more in the darkness that would slowly consume him. Once he awoke in a sea of red and dead carcasses, she could see it pushing him to the brink, to tears, and a long suffering of loss he couldn’t stop. Animal cruelty, she understood what she did, but it was the least of her concerns. She could think of the men and women that between Konstantine and herself that they killed and knew those lives were more important than animals.
Entering the zoo, she had only one goal here, but she was prepared for all of the factors that could play into this. Carrying a pair of bolt cutters within her L.L. Bean carry along tote bag, she looked like any other woman who came to the zoo. She was here for an exciting day, but she was about to make all these dull and listless people have something to talk, scream, yell about. Exotic and wild animals walking around out of their enclosures? Who wouldn’t scream at ruthless lions and tigers showing their teeth while gazelles and zebras ran in herds? Anya wouldn’t be afraid of such animals, because fear was a useless emotion that she didn’t hold. Sliding on black leather gloves, they fit to her fingers tight as if was a layer of black skin. Pulling out her bolt cutter, she went to work to releasing the tiger, as the door swung open, she moved on to the next enclosure she saw. Whatever it was, the point was to free them all and with her newest associate controlling the cameras, not that he had much choice.
The last enclosure was the herd of zebras, swinging the door open, she hid behind it as the herd forced their way out in the buzz of excitement in the air. Mostly the animals were confused and not very appreciative of the animals in their public space. Finding the door where zookeepers held their tools, she placed the pair of bolt cutters as if they were there all along and as if one of the zookeepers hid them there after doing this themselves. Shutting the door, she watched a frantic mother try to collect all of her things and Anya stepped over to her. “Here, I have no need for this bag now.” The woman looked up to her, trying to hold her kids desperately in fear that they would die. “Really?” Anya nodded and passed it over, even going as far as helping the woman along. A small act of kindness, but she didn’t have any reason to do it other than to get rid of the bag, already a dead weight to her. Satisfied with her havoc, she made her way to the exit. She was highly amused by all of this and she was ready to go to the mall to chuckle at the idiots running like ants, but she found herself paused by an unexpected distraction.
A small blond screamed and in a moment’s glance, she assumed it was that Johnny Giancola’s girlfriend and she smiled, she had a small idea go through her head. Moving forward, her timing was right and she grabbed the girl’s arms and pulled them behind her, a vicious smile on her lips. Able to keep this girl bound, it took Anya no time at all to stab the needle into the girl’s flesh an inject lidocaine into the girl. She knew the lidocaine would numb her enough that she would lose muscle control, causing her to fall to the ground. Fishing out pills from her pockets, Anya briefly glanced at the combination in her hand she spotted two one milligram pills of lorazepam, twenty-five milligrams of clozapine, and the rest was ambien. She brought her hand to the girl’s mouth and forced her to open and swallow. Anya knew what the side effects were and none of what she fed this girl would kill her but she knew it would make her go on an amusing trip. She would have fun with that.
Letting her grasp on her mouth go, Anya wanted her to scream. Watching her spit most of the ambien out to the ground and she saw a lunesta. She shrugged off the fact that she didn’t notice the other sleeping pill, but she didn’t care. Listening to her scream it warranted the attention of the Irish mafia’s Finn and then the youngest, Asher. Relatively unaffected, Anya realized her assumption of this being the mayor candidate’s girlfriend, she shrugged it off. She wouldn’t be a good leader if she couldn’t handle her own mistakes. Well, attacking the Selwyn’s lone female sibling wasn’t in her plans, Anya could work it to her advantage. The blackout was meant to avoid attacking any Selwyn outright, but seeing as she just had she would use it to her advantage. While she knew these drugs would have no lasting effects on this girl after they ran her system, she knew it would put enough fear in this girl’s head. She was their delicate and sheltered flower and she was allowed to turn a blind eye to what they did. Perhaps, she forgot just what was around her and she should be reminded. Ignoring Finn’s threats and Asher’s attempt at bartering and this poor thing’s feeble attempt at freeing herself, Anya pulled her gun out and pressed it’s cold steel against the woman’s temple. She didn’t need to have the pistol out, but it was for fun an added effects. Plus if Finn was going to have his gun out, than so would she.
Ruby red lips pressed to the ear against blonde hair, Anya chuckled. “Tell the little work dog over there to unload, drop his gun, and slide the ammo this way, sweetheart. Since you probably have that affect over him or am I wrong? No, I don’t think I’m wrong. I know how much power a woman has over a man. You have power, so use it, or you’ll be my human bulletproof vest. I don’t think you want that. You like life, don’t you?” A small chuckle escaped her lips and she watched the two men. Anya pet Kahlan’s hair mockingly, watching the men. They were so frantic for this girl and Anya didn’t care. She didn’t have emotions that she would admit to. If it were her brothers, she’d let them die – if it were konstantine, she’d let him die – she wouldn’t be as much of an idiot to try to save them. With seven billion people and counting, a human life was replaceable to anya. But apparently, it meant more to others and she was impatient with waiting.
“this is the problem with dogs, kahlan, is it? They don’t always listen to their masters. Sad, that’s why I just slaughtered dogs. Because I could. Killing is that easy, kahlan, dear. Put in perspective, there are seven billion people and counting in this world, you are just one person against them all. Just like myself, your brother, and finn over there. So a human life is really diminishing in value, wouldn’t you say? But I guess you like to think that your family isn’t the big bad wolves of boston. It’s not even me, you know that. It’s your older brother and he’s the reason for misery, for people’s financial woes, he’s just as twisted as I am if not more. Do you forget that when you look at him? Do you forget he’s killed and murdered? You know, I haven’t killed a human life yet, but I’m capable. It could be yours. Eye for an eye, so to speak.”
She paused.
“but I don’t think that will help, so keep that urine to yourself. Today isn’t your day, unless you piss me off or he pisses me off. Which he’s doing a wonderfully good job at the more he keeps that gun aimed steady this direction. So let’s talk, woman to woman, because we seem to have nothing better to do for some time. Let’s just talk about the worth of men and love. Here’s the thing, if he shoots, he shoots you. I don’t know if he loves or likes you or whatnot, but let’s just pretend he does. Can you imagine shooting the one you love? Because right now he doesn’t have much of a clear shot to shoot at me. Plus, your brother’s in the way there, so this is really just a mess. You could really lose your life here. You know?”
She leaned in closer, to whisper quiet to all but kahlan. “I didn’t plant this. I’m not after your or your brothers or finn. But seeing as the cards have flashed and the tables have turned. We’ll just go with this.” She squared her shoulders and watched finn.
“well, since we’re not getting anywhere, you leave me little choice.” Making an irritated noise, she pulled the gun from kahlan’s head and shot straight at Finn’s hand, a shrill scream of people around them started and it was as if a crowd around them started fleeing as was the fashion that people did in pandemonium. Releasing kahlan to the ground, she didn’t feel any care if she got trampled between people and animals alike charging and running out from the zoo. She decided to move grabbing Asher in the process. She really wasn’t sure what she was going to do with him but he was there and that was all the reason she needed to take him along. They disappeared into the crowd and anya didn’t have much choice but to use her vehicle. That was something she hated, having to rely on a vehicle, but she knew she could easily loose the others if they pursued. Shoving asher into the passenger seat, she slid across the hood of the trunk in a quick fashion before getting into the vehicle herself. Going from zero to forty, fifty, and climbing, she swerved and honked people out of the way. Good lord, people in this city were true and utter idiots.
Yet, even if he wasn’t part of her plan she didn’t need the mall, there was enough going on there as it were. Rubbing her face, she snapped the radio off and fished through her pockets to count the handful of pills in her hand. She looked at him. “Swallow them and have a nice trip. I’m not the greatest babysitter, especially to sick little children like you.” She remembered their conversation on the internet and she had a tolerance for him, but it shouldn’t be confused with a fondness.

AFRAID SHE MIGHT THROW UP, SHE WAS RELIEVED WHEN HER FACE WAS RELEASED, AND SHE SPIT OUT THE FEW PILLS THAT HADN'T MANAGED TO SNEAK THEIR WAY IN TO HER THROAT. SHE SCREAMED, FEELING HER BODY WEAVE WITH THE SOUND. HOWEVER, THE SOUND OF HER VOICE SCREAMING WAS MET NOT ONLY BY THE REACTION OF FINN AND ASHER, BUT BY THE COLD BARREL OF A GUN AGAINST HER FOREHEAD. SHE FROZE AT THE FEEL OF IT, HER GREEN EYES WIDENING IN TERROR. OBVIOUSLY, BEING A MEMBER OF A CRIME FAMILY, SHE HAD BEEN AROUND GUNS BEFORE. HOWEVER, HER FATHER HAD ALWAYS ADAMANTLY KEPT HER AWAY FROM THEM AND THE USE OF THEM. HE WANTED HER TO BE A LADY, AND SHOOTING A GUN WAS NOT A LADYLIKE ACTIVITY. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS MADE HER A VERY EASY TARGET FOR THE SELWYNS' ENEMIES IF THEY EVER GOT THEIR HANDS ON HER. THIS WAS ALSO THE REASON HE'D CLOISTERED HER AWAY, AND CONNOR CONTINUED THE TRADITION, BUT THAT WASN'T THE CASE TODAY. SHE WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME, AND SHE'D BEEN CAUGHT.
FEELING THE HEAT OF ANYA'S BREATH AGAINST HER EAR SENT UNPLEASANT SHIVERS UP AND DOWN KAHLAN'S SPINE, AND SHE CLENCHED HER EYES CLOSED AT THE RUSSIAN ACCENT. SHE HATED THIS WOMAN, ESPECIALLY NOW. HER ASSOCIATES HAD CAUSED SO MUCH PAIN TO HER BROTHER, TO FINN, TO ELI, AND TO WHO KNEW WHO ELSE. BUT KAHLAN'S BODY WAS GROWING LETHARGIC AS THE DRUGS SLOWLY SEEPED THEIR WAY IN TO HER SYSTEM. SHE COULD FEEL THE THROBBING OF THE NEEDLE STAB IN HER BACK EBBING, BUT IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE SHE WAS SLOWLY GOING NUMB. THE DRUG WORKED ITS WAY IN TO HER SYSTEM, THE PERFECT DOSAGE NO DOUBT, AND HER KNEES AND ELBOWS BEGAN TO ACHE.
WITH HER ARMS HELD BEHIND HER BACK AND ANYA'S GUN AGAINST HER TEMPLE, SHE COULD DO NOTHING TO FIGHT BACK. HER WEAKNESS WAS GROWING BY THE MOMENTS, AND SHE COULD DO NOTHING ELSE BUT LISTEN UNWILLINGLY AS ANYA HISSED INTO HER EAR. KAHLAN SNEERED IN DERISION, TRYING TO TWIST IN ANYA'S ARMS BUT UNWILLING TO LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE GUN TRAINED AGAINST THE SIDE OF HER HEAD. "NO," SHE REPLIED STUBBORNLY, HER EYES SHIFTING TO FINN AS THE RUSSIAN MOBSTRESS TOLD HER TO ORDER HIM TO DROP HIS GUN. SHE SAW THE MURDEROUS LOOK IN HIS EYES, TURNING HIS HANDSOME FACE INTO SOMETHING UNFAMILIAR AND FRIGHTENING. HE WOULDN'T DO IT EVEN IF SHE LISTENED TO ANYA AND REPEATED HER WORDS, WHICH SHE WOULD NEVER DO. "THERE ARE TWO OF THEM, YOU KNOW. I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU CAN HOLD YOUR GUN TO MY HEAD AND SHOOT BOTH OF THEM BEFORE ONE OF THEM GETS A GOOD SHOT OFF ON YOU," SHE POINTED OUT.
SHE WAS AFRAID, THERE WAS NO DOUBTING THAT. SHE HATED HAVING THE COLD METAL OF THE GUN PRESSING IN TO HER HEAD. SHE HATED THE EXHAUSTION LEAKING THROUGH HER BODY AND CAUSING HER TO GO NUMB. SHE HATED THE RUSSIANS, AND SHE WAS TERRIFIED. BUT THAT DIDN'T MEAN SHE WASN'T STILL STUBBORN, AND SHE WAS A SELWYN. SELWYN STUBBORNNESS WAS LEGENDARY.
BUT ANYA WAS NONPLUSSED BY HER RESPONSE, INSTEAD PRESSING ONWARD AND ALMOST WHISPERING IN TO HER EAR AGAIN. SHE TRIED IN VAIN TO PULL AWAY, BUT THE MEDICATION IN HER SYSTEM WAS STRONGER NOW THAN THE LAST TIME SHE'D ATTEMPTED AN ESCAPE. HER SHOULDERS HAD BEEN PULLED BACK SO LONG THAT HER ARMS WERE FALLING ASLEEP, AND EVERY JOINT IN HER BODY BURNED AND ACHED. HER EYELIDS DROOPED AS ANYA BEGAN TALKING ABOUT DOGS, AND KAHLAN GRITTED HER TEETH TOGETHER.
HEARING ANYA MENTION CONNOR - WITHOUT EVER SAYING HIS NAME, SHE KNEW - KAHLAN BRISTLED. SHE DIDN'T BELIEVE HE WAS A MONSTER. EVEN IF HE WAS STUPID AND STUBBORN AND OVERPROTECTIVE, SHE LOVED HIM. SHE WAS HIS BLOOD, AND HE WAS HERS. NO ONE TALKED CRAP ABOUT CONNOR BESIDES HER. BUT, THANKS TO HER DRUG-INDUCED HAZE, ANYA'S WORDS GOT UNDER HER SKIN. SHE SAW CONNOR COVERED IN BLOOD THE DAY HE'D RETURNED FROM SLAUGHTERING ANYA'S FAMILY. SHE SAW HIM THE NIGHT HE'D RAPED THAT GIRL WHEN HE WAS JUST A TEENAGER, AND HE'D ALMOST DIED FROM A GUNSHOT WOUND AND ALCOHOL POISONING. SHE'D SEEN HIM REMORSEFUL FOR HIS ACTIONS WHEN NO ONE ELSE HAD. SHE'D SEEN HIM BEFORE HE BECAME THE MONSTER THAT EVERY ONE ELSE SAW.
"SO... BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T TAKEN A HUMAN LIFE... THAT MAKES YOU A SAINT," KAHLAN CLARIFIED, HER TONE TAKING ON A SARCASTIC AIR. "AT LEAST CONNOR ISN'T AFRAID TO KILL SOMEONE IF HE HAS TO."
SHE WASN'T EXACTLY PROUD OF HER BROTHER'S VIOLENCE, BUT SHE WAS PROUD OF HER BLOODLINE. SHE WAS IRISH, AND SHE WAS A SELWYN. SHE LOVED HER FAMILY. FAMILIAL LOYALTY HAD BEEN BRED IN TO HER ON A MICROSCOPIC LEVEL. ANYA WAS THE DOG AS FAR AS SHE WAS CONCERNED. THEN SHE MENTIONED THAT THE FIRST LIFE SHE COULD TAKE COULD BE KAHLAN'S.
SHE DIDN'T WANT TO DIE. SHE KNEW THAT. SHE HATED THE THOUGHT OF IT, AND SHE HATED THE WEAK IMPOTENCE IN HER BODY NOW AS THE DRUGS COURSED THROUGH HER BLOODSTREAM. HER QUICKENED HEARTBEAT ONLY AIDED IT IN SPREADING THROUGH HER, BUT SHE SHIVERED IN FEAR. WHAT IF SHE DIED? SHE DIDN'T WANT TO DIE.
THANKFULLY - OR UNFORTUNATELY, SHE COULDN'T DECIDE WHICH, ANYA CONTINUED ON HER MONOLOGUE, AND KAHLAN WRINKLED HER NOSE IN DISGUST AT THE WOMAN'S CRASS WORDS. HER TONGUE FELT THICK IN HER MOUTH, AND SHE KNEW TALKING WAS ABOUT TO BECOME MORE DIFFICULT. HER EYES THREATENED TO CLOSE, BUT ANYA KEPT HER AWAKE BY SHIFTING HER AND TIGHTENING THE GRIP ON HER ARMS. SHE WINCED AT THE FEELING WHICH MADE THE BARREL OF THE GUN DIG INTO THE SIDE OF HER HEAD AND SHE FROZE.
ANYA QUESTIONED LOVE, AND KAHLAN WASN'T SURPRISED, BUT SHE HAD NO CHOICE EXCEPT TO LISTEN. HEARING HER WORDS ABOUT MEN AND LOVE, KAHLAN'S AUTOMATIC REACTION WAS TO LOOK AT FINN. EVEN WITH ASHER RIGHT THERE, ABLE TO SEE HER LOOK AT FINN WITH THE OBVIOUS EMOTION IN HER FACE THAT SHE FELT FOR HIM, SHE COULDN'T HELP IT. SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HIDING IT BETTER THAN THIS. THEY HAD AGREED THAT NO ONE COULD KNOW, BUT SHE WAS DRUGGED AND AFRAID SHE WAS GOING TO DIE. SHE WANTED TO SEE HIM, AND WHEN ANYA TALKED ABOUT HIM HAVING TO SHOOT HER TO GET TO THE RUSSIAN WOMAN, A CHILL OF FEAR RAN THROUGH HER. WOULD HE SHOOT HER TO GET TO ANYA? SHE WAS TOO DRUGGED TO RATIONALIZE IT. SHE FELT GROGGY AND DIZZY AND SHE SLUMPED BACKWARD AGAINST THE OTHER WOMAN. IF ANYA WASN'T SUPPORTING HER WEIGHT, SHE WOULD ALREADY BE IN A PILE ON THE GROUND. HER DRUGGED MIND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT IF FINN CARED ENOUGH ABOUT HER TO SPARE HER FROM A GUNSHOT WOUND OR NOT.
SHE DIDN'T KNOW IF HE LOVED HER OR NOT, EVEN THOUGH SHE REALIZED SHE WAS FALLING IN LOVE WITH HIM. BUT HE WAS A SOLDIER, A FIGHTER. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO SACRIFICE THE WEAK LINK TO STRENGTHEN THE PACK. SHE WAS BECOMING DELIRIOUS, AND SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO THINK. SHE IMAGINED FINN, HER FINN, SHOOTING HER TO KILL ANYA AND A CHOKED SOB ESCAPED HER THROAT. ASHER WANTED TO SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR HER, AND FINN WOULD NEVER DROP HIS GUN EVEN IF SHE HAD ASKED HIM TO (WHICH SHE NEVER WOULD). THIS DAY COULDN'T GET ANY WORSE.
SUDDENLY, THE WEIGHT OF THE GUN BARREL AGAINST HER HEAD WAS GONE, AND HER EYES FLICKERED LAZILY AS SHE TRIED TO FOCUS BEFORE THE GUNSHOT EXPLODED IN HER EAR. HER BODY REACTED INSTANTLY, AND SHE TRIED TO ESCAPE IT, BUT IT RANG WITH THE CONCUSSION OF THE SOUND. IT WAS MUCH LOUDER THAN SHE'D IMAGINED. NO WONDER PEOPLE WORE THOSE HEADPHONES WHEN THEY WENT TO THE SHOOTING RANGE. HER LEFT EAR WENT NUMB AND DEAF FROM THE SUDDEN LOUDNESS OF THE NOISE, AND HER EYES OPENED FULLY TO SEE BLOOD ESCAPING FROM FINN'S HAND. HER HEART CONSTRICTED IN HER CHEST, AND TEARS BEGAN TO FALL DOWN HER FACE IN FEAR AND ANGER AND SADNESS.
THEN, ANYA'S SUPPORTING GRIP ON HER WAS GONE, AND HER LEGS GAVE OUT. SHE CRUMPLED TO THE GROUND, DEAF OUT OF ONE SIDE OF HER HEAD AND DRUGGED TO THE POINT SHE COULDN'T TWIST TO KEEP HERSELF FROM FALLING HARD ON THE GROUND. HER ARMS WERE STILL PULLED BEHIND HER BACK AS SHE FELL, AND SHE LANDED HARD ON HER SHOULDER, BUT SHE DIDN'T BELIEVE SHE'D BROKEN IT. INSTEAD, HER HEAD SMACKED HARD ON THE CEMENT, SCRAPING THE SIDE OF HER FACE. SHE GROANED IN PAIN AND FRUSTRATION.
MUSTERING THE STRENGTH TO ROLL OVER ON HER BACK, SHE SAW ANYA GRAB HER BROTHER, AND HER LIPS PARTED TO WARN HIM, BUT NO SOUND CAME OUT. HER TONGUE FELT SWOLLEN IN HER MOUTH, AND THE ONLY SOUND THAT FORCED ITS WAY OUT WAS A STRANGLED GROAN. TEARS FELL OUT OF HER EYES, RUNNING DOWN THE SIDES OF HER FACE AND POOLING BENEATH HER EARS AS HER BROTHER DISAPPEARED OUT OF THE CORNER OF HER VISION.
BODIES BEGAN TO FILL HER VISION, AND SHE COULD NO LONGER SEE FINN, AND SHE PANICKED BUT SHE COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. HER BODY WOULDN'T OBEY HER, AND HER MUSCLES FELT AS IF THEY WERE ASLEEP. SHE WAS ALONE, FINN HAD BEEN SHOT AND ASHER HAD BEEN KIDNAPPED. HER LIFE WAS FALLING APART, AND SHE WAS GOING TO DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CHAOTIC ZOO. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A GOOD DAY. tag: finn words: a ton template by eliza @ shadowplay & shine |

Finn's gaze traveled over to Asher as the young man decided to play the hero. This wasn't going well. Connor was going to kill him for even allowing this situation to take place. He had been too busy griping about being here in the first place. While he had been aware of their surroundings while mayhem hadn't broken loose, once the animals were moving around, he had lost his focus. Because of a tiger he had taken his eyes off of the woman he was supposed to be protecting with his own life. But even as he held his gun trained on Anya's head, he knew that he couldn't take the shot. While he had one of the best aims in the mafia, he could not risk the life of the woman he was falling in love with. It just wasn't possible, and his hesitation was only a clue to himself and to Kahlan about how much he was beginning to care about her. Of course, he had always cared, but never like this. It hadn't been discovered until the pool house and the feelings were too new for him to throw them away now.
His hesitation cost him though, for Anya moved in such a way that he clearly did not have a shot now. He just could not and would not put his gun down, even though the woman in front of him was telling Kahlan to tell him. He wouldn't listen. It wasn't his style. He was too proud of a man to obey, especially in a situation like this. Connor wouldn't put his gun down either, and Finn wasn't about to start being a coward. His finger remained on the trigger, resting over it even though it was not the safest thing he could be doing. He knew better, but his mind was jumping to so many different places. Kahlan could not get taken. She was the innocence of the Irish mafia. If she was taken and corrupted, they would never be the same again. She would never be the same again and Finn would blame himself.
But it seemed Asher had different ideas, and for a moment, Finn's gaze left Kahlan as she struggled to keep her feet from whatever the Russian bitch had put into her system by force. He watched Asher's back, cursing inwardly as Asher put himself between Finn's gun and Anya. Now he clearly didn't have a shot, but that didn't get him to toss his ammunition over to the Russian. Lifting his chin defiantly, his eyes locked onto Kahlan's as Asher offered himself up. He tried to convey a sense of calm, a sense that he would never allow anything to happen to her.
And that was when it happened.
The gun shot spooked him, but he didn't let it show outwardly. His heart skipped a beat in fear, thinking that Anya had shot Kahlan at first. But that was when the pain bloomed in his hand, the blood spattering his shirt, his face, his arm. "Fuck! You stupid bitch! You could have shot him!" He snarled viciously in his anger and his pain, a fury that no one here had ever seen before blossoming before he could even begin to stop it. Rage filled him, but his ruined hand dropped his gun, his fingers losing their feeling and turning numb rather quickly. As people ran, screaming for cover, Finn lifted his eyes to see Anya let go of Kahlan. As she fell, Finn stepped forward, watching as Asher did the same thing. They could carry her out of this together. Ignoring the intense burning sensation in his hand, he let it bleed, running to Kahlan's side as she hit the pavement, hard.
Finn slid across the ground as he reached her side, muscling the terrified crowds out of the way to the best of his ability, shielding her from harm. Looking up as he gently pulled her into his lap, he glanced around for Asher, not finding him because of his hurry to get to Kahlan's side. "Asher? Asher! Where are you!?" His Irish/ Russian accent stood out amongst the screams, but he got no answer. Swearing, he stood quickly despite his crippled leg, holding Kahlan bridal style in his arms. Keeping her close to him, his blue eyes tore around the zoo, seeing Asher's weakened form being dragged along behind the mob boss. Cursing again, he looked down at the young woman in his arms, knowing she would be asleep soon. He had to get her home. "Lan, stay with me, okay? You've got to talk to me. Say anything, call me an ass. Please, please stay awake." He finished quickly, his stride lengthening as he ran with her to the parking lot. He was going to pay for this later, that was for sure, and in more ways than one. Reaching the car, he unlocked it and tore open the door with Kahlan in his arms.
Depositing her as gently as he could in the seat, he buckled her seat belt, knowing his driving was going to get about ten times worse because of the emergency of the situation. Piling into the driver's side with his hand still bleeding profusely, he knew Connor was going to bitch about the blood all over the car. Not caring, he turned the car on, slamming it into gear and speeding off. He got to the mansion in record time, getting Kahlan into the house and into the living room. Now he really didn't know what to do, but he had a phone call to make. And the receiver was not going to be a very happy camper.
---
Asher watched the situation carefully, his green eyes calculating as he tried to figure out how to convince Anya to let his sister go. It seemed she wasn't taking the bait and frustration filled him for a moment as he stood there, exasperated. He couldn't even be of use in a situation like this. Feeling weak and sick because of his cancer, he swallowed past the rising lump in his throat, not wanting to get sick in front of any of the people gathered around him.
Watching Anya cling to his sister sickened him even more but he kept his composure even as Finn was shot, even as Anya spoke of love and he saw Kahlan look to Finn. Things were escalating quickly, and he needed to focus.
Suddenly, Kahlan was being released after Anya tortured her with whispers that Asher couldn't understand or hear, and he stepped forward to get to his sister just as Finn did. But before he could reach her side, a strong grip covered his thinning upper arm and he was pulled off balance. Anya's forward momentum was quick and Asher wasn't quick on his feet anymore because of his weakening state. It was a good thing he was sick, for on any other normal day, if he was healthy, Anya wouldn't be able to muscle him like she was. It would be physically impossible. But the odds were in her favor, and Asher was spun quickly around, his eyes glancing over his shoulder as he looked back and Kahlan and Finn as they disappeared under the crowd. He pulled against Anya for a second, focusing on his struggling family. "Wait..what did you give her? Is she going to be okay?" He questioned her, his concern for his sister masking his simmering anger.
His protective side came out quickly as he fought against Anya, but he tired himself out quickly. It was quite obvious that he didn't just have the flu. He stumbled along clumsily, lethargically, moving with Anya with the grace of an ox. Clearly struggling, he reached the car, wincing as her touch burned his sensitive skin as she shoved him into the passenger's side. Foregoing his seatbealt, he slumped forward in the seat, his head swimming uncomfortably. As she crossed the back of the car, Asher felt the growing urgency to get sick, but he kept it down as best as he could. Looking over at her as she handed him pills, he held his hand out instinctively, looking apprehensively down at the mixture.
"There's no guarantee that I'll keep these down."
He informed her vaguely, watching her for her reaction. But as he was told to take them again, he sighed softly, tipping his head back and opening his mouth to take the pills. Swallowing them dry, he made a face at the awful taste of them, nearly throwing up on the spot as he dry heaved uncomfortably. A hand went to his abdomen as he clutched his stomach, as if the pressure would keep the vomit down. Succeeding for now, he knew it was because he had nothing in his stomach. Groaning slightly because of how sick he felt, he suddenly felt a strange sensation traveling through him, his chest warming because of how fast the meds were working. As Anya drove crazily, his head started swimming, his vision making him dizzy and incoherent. "Where we goin'? I need....I, hey..where's Kahlan?" He managed to slur out, his vibrant eyes hazy and half closed.
In another instant, Asher was knocked out cold, slumping sideways, his head landing on the window as he slipped into the trip that Anya wanted him to take.
