In this digital age, secrets have become all but impossible to keep from those with the right tools. For the right mind with the right technology, the deepest, darkest, most well kept and juicy secrets about the most important people in the world are but a few clicks away. Needless to say, Mckenzie Lyons who prided herself on "knowing everything" was more than perplexed when she saw a masked female vigilante masquerading on the FOX25's ten o'clock news.
Was she threatened? No… that wouldn't make sense, this was another like minded citizen using extraordinary skills to step up where traditional law enforcement failed--just like THE SHIELD… but there was something about this "NYX" that left her with a feeling that she didn't like feeling.
Could it be that this girl had been functioning seemingly well on her own? This of course would cause her to question her own self worth in this struggle. She had always fancied herself as a necessary part of her duo's success… but surely if some girl around the same age as herself then her "big black batman" with all of his military training would do just fine against street thugs.
The only way she would feel any better is if she met this person. Actually, the more she thought about it the more it appealed to her… with her, SHIELD, and NYX, they could form their own goddamn Justice league. Her inner comic book nerd squealed at the thought.
It wasn't difficult for her to discover Nyx's secret identity… the police, after all, weren't far from the truth in their own investigations. All she had to do was make a few connections that a "lesser mind" would not draw, leading her to the conclusion that the vigilante princess, Nyx was none other than…
Oh… this is certainly is a juicy secret!
But how to contact Boston royalty? She would have to be careful. She wouldn't want to alert the rest of the city as to what the heiress did when the sun went down. Snail mail was slow, and insecure. Emails could be traced, even behind proxies. But an instant message… the cyber trail goes dead quickly after the recipient reads it. A message, then she would have to journey… outside. She would have to bite the bullet on this one. The message was simple.
I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. MEET ME AT ZUME'S IN CHARLESTOWN TOMORROW AT 7:00 AM. - LIBERTY
Followed by her Statue of Liberty logo. Mckenzie was never good at subtlety… and her anonymous messages often seemed like something out of a horror movie. Her online etiquette needed work, to say the least.-----
The art of this Charlestown cafe changes every three months, and the painting hanging about the coffee shop were of an abstract winter theme. There was a long line at the counter of people picking up their coffee to go, in particular their world famous eggnog latte topped with homemade whipped cream and nutmeg. The strong aroma of coffee pours out into the street, still blanketed with a thin layer of snow from last nights flurries--a quintessential winter day in the city of Boston.
The seating area, was surprisingly shockingly empty… strange because on the rare occasion that Mckenzie did venture outside of her room at an undisclosed location, she was very punctual about being on time, repeatedly scolding Ladarias for constantly being late.
But then, upon further examination, one might see that the dining area was not empty, the shadow of a petite girl is clearly visible beneath a table in the back, tapping away at a laptop. Her face, concealed by a combination of her own messily applied bangs, her black hoodie, and dark sunglasses. Every so often she peered out from her little cave to get a look at the incoming patrons, perking up at each sound of the doorbell. She knew who se was looking for and what she looked like.
The famous Phillipa Regan.
