MAJOR SITE UPDATE! (PLEASE READ)

I have already done a bit of a soft release on the news about where ETS is headed over the next two months, but it's time to announce it officially.

As some, or most, of you have seen, I was trying out the PB5 beta, and I was displeased with it. Proboards has updated consistently over the past several years, tweaking things here and there to improve their forum service. However, Proboards Version 5 is essentially a drastic reboot. It will be an entirely different forum system. The set-up is completely different, the coding is completely different, and to put it simply: I don't like it. And I highly doubt any of us would.

Since PB5 is ultimately a different forum software entirely, jessie and I have decided we will be moving ETS to an entirely different server altogether.

We're moving to jcink!

I've seen a trend of proboards-based rpgs moving to jcink consistently over the past couple of years. It's a growing trend, and what with the changes to PB5, I have a feeling it may happen even more. Hopefully this move will also warrant us some more members since many people seem to be making the shift independently as well.

The jcink site is already up, and I've been working to fix up the skin and coding before our switch over. I'm sure many of you have used jcink or invisionfree before - I know all of you I've talked to have - so I'm hoping it won't be as drastic a change as sticking with PB5 would be.

We will officially be switching over at the end of this month or the beginning of April. The last week of March will be pretty busy for me, so it may be in April that we'll actually make the move. Either way, we'll keep you all updated so you don't have to worry about the site shutting down and not knowing where we went.

Also, coming up in the next few weeks, we will start the migration process by asking which characters you will be keeping and reserving face claims on the other site. We will be implementing a character limit on the new version (to save some of us from character whoredom *cough*me*cough*, and to free up some faces).

The site plot will also be taking what I suppose you could consider a radical shift. It will still remain a crime site, that will not change, but the major players and groups will be shifting around a bit to allow for some new crime groups. With the recent blackout, Boston is on the fritz and is no longer safe for citizen or criminal alike, as I'm sure you've noticed. I really think you'll all enjoy where the plot is taking us. I hope so!

Work on the new site is coming along very nicely! I've already got it skinned and have the boards up (at least for now, I might get wild a crazy and add some new ones, who knows?). I've been formulating the new groups (since there will be more, we want to provide extensive information about all of them so there's no confusion) as well. We're halfway through March, but if we get this all done before the month is over, I might get a wild hair and open early! 8D
