THE LAW. TWENTY-SIX . POLICE OFFICER. DANGEROUS. TREACHEROUS. LIAR. SELFISH. DARK.

I have nothing better to do, so don't get too excited. Can we get this over with? I've got things to do, people to arrest. "of course, of course. my apologies. now, let's get started. please state your name and occupation for our records? Seriously. Right, you look serious. -impatient sigh- Maddox York. Boston Police Officer. Anything else? "no, that's perfect, thank you. now, what got you interested in that line of work, mr. york?" My family is full of cops. It seemed the way to go, what with all of the good names behind me when I entered the academy. If you're looking for some glorious sob story you've come to the wrong place. It was simply the easiest route for me and since I didn't have any interest in pursuing the education degree that my aunt was so desperate for me to get, the police academy was a walk in the park. I passed with flying colors, naturally. "well isn't that wonderful. it seems you really have a handle on your life, and knew what you wanted to be. now, you mentioned your aunt. did you not grow up with your parents?" What is this, the inquisition? i thought this was for a school project. whatever. yes, i grew up with my aunt. My dad was busy overseas as a marine, my mother went into psychiatric care when I was twelve. My aunt and uncle raised me from then on. I thought this was for career day. "it is, it is! we just thought it would be an interesting question because you never mention your history. at least, not in the interviews that we've seen before." And there's a reason for that kid, and you'll do well to remember that. Ask what you want to ask and it better be career related. If you're wasting my time for some apparently awesome, never before seen bibliography, I'm going to rip it to pieces. "i'm s-sorry. of course. uh, let's see here...your brother is no longer on the force with you, correct? it's not to find out about your history, i promise! it's just to understand some of the cases you've worked on, honest." -sigh- Relax kid, don't wet yourself. My brother moved to Arkansas, so no, he's not on the force with me any longer. We used to be partners, and now I've got a new one. We're still smoothing out our working relationship, but things are getting better. It's helpful to have a new outlook sometimes, and it's even better learning to work with someone new. "right, a new dynamic and everything. you're known for putting away a large number of fugitives. your numbers are some of the highest that boston has ever seen. how does that make you feel?" Okay, Dr. Phil. It makes me feel great, accomplished even. I'm making a difference, yada yada. The truth is kid, I do what I have to do, what I need to do. I do my job, nothing more, nothing less. It's what I was trained to do, what I was made to do. There isn't glory behind my choices, my decisions. This job can suck. This job can be great. It's just like any other job out there. So you think long and hard if this is something that you want to do. While it's extremely satisfying, it chances you. You need to evaluate yourself and your life to figure out if you can handle that change because sometimes it's for the worst. You keep that in mind kid. This job isn't about robbers and policemen, good guys and bad guys. There's a lot more to it than that. You make sacrifices, sometimes in blood. Be ready, that's all I'm saying." "yes sir, thank you sir. uh, um...i think...i think that might be it. thank you for your time, honestly, mr. york." No problem kid. That interview was kind of short. When you grow a pair, why don't you come back and you can ask some more questions. I'm pretty sure you don't have enough for that paper. "i'll do that, i've just got...practice. i'll be in touch! Brief Outline: Maddox is a man that is a complete mystery to most. The only man that knows all of who he is would be Connor Selwyn and that's because Maddox is tangled up within the Irish Mafia because of what his father did overseas as part of the Marines. He sold Maddox to them to save his own life. While Maddox doesn't like being a secret criminal, he does what he has to do because he values his life. As long as he feeds information to Connor and his puppets, he stays alive. As long as he plants the evidence that he's to plant, he keeps his life. As long as he's the Irish mafia's bitch, he'll live to see another day. The lifestyle makes him extremely hostile and it's hard for anyone to deal with him on the force. And he simply doesn't care. The chief thinks it has to do with his upbringing, and now that his brother moved, they all believe that he's having a hard time dealing with that loss. Maddox lets them believe what they want to believe because it's just easier that way. The truth is, Maddox is as crooked as they come and as slippery as a fox. He's a liar, he's a criminal, and he's dangerous. He is responsible for as many deaths as he is for arrests because of his role in the mafia and his need to frame people. He's dark and twisted and he's a loose canon. No one seems to understand just how much of a sinner he really is. He's the devil in human form, and he isn't afraid of anything, except for dying. That's why you never stand in the way of something that he has to do to keep his life. He's sarcastic, he's blunt, he's brutal. He barely keeps his job because of his ability to run his mouth. He's forceful and conniving, and he's dark and mysterious. Welcome to the neighborhood bad boy. |
