He never was called the name, he was always their little Jamie and he was cheerful and always bouncy. How the hardships of their life didn't reflect on the child was a marvel in itself, the Quinn's were in danger of going belly-up. In a desperate attempt to right where their lives were going wrong, Marcy called upon the favors of a man who she met in a bar. He was sweet on her and she knew he was wealthy, considerably older than she was at the time. She was only twenty-six when she made the deal that would haunt her the rest of her life. A fat check in exchange for sexual favors, for the idea of an illicit affair. She couldn't tell her husband, David was the love of her life and she knew it would hurt him, so she kept it a secret. She found herself pregnant and it brought the affair to a screeching halt - she didn't know which man fathered the child. She told them both, David overjoyed and Peter stony silent. Her affair ended, but for reasons she didn't understand. Stressing it didn't change anything, Peter said that it changed everything and he forced her to come clean to David or their dream cafe would suffer. David was heartbroken, it didn't ruin their marriage but the trust was gone. When the delivery came, both men waited, but ultimately the three had decided that Peter would name first and middle name. When Charlotte was born, Peter was in love and he wanted her to have his last name, Murphy, because he knew just by looking at the small girl that it was his, but the Quinn's refused until the paternity test was completed. Legally, Charlotte Brielle Quinn was born and later her name was changed to change to Murphy. However, Charlotte doesn't know and still holds the very first copy of her birth certificate. And to this day, at 23, she still doesn't know, but it didn't come without a price. All Jamie knew he wanted to be as a child was a baker. It was his passion, what excited him - making fluffy breads and beautiful cakes was what he dreamed of. He was never raised to want anything different than that. When Charlotte was two their younger brother Daniel was born and the Quinn's had a modest life, no hardships noticed by their children. Jamie was a social butterfly, Charlotte quiet and reserved, and Daniel was always carefree. David and Marcy Quinn had an average life with their children, but they knew the looming figure of Peter Murphy would never be too far away. At 19, just fresh out of high school, Jamie was coerced into working for Peter Murphy a business mogul in Boston. He was a successful property builder, owned many sky-high apartment buildings, ran a real estate company, and a luxury casino cruise ship. Jamie was dumbfounded to be approached by such a wealthy mogul and offered a job as a handyman. He took it up, but he had no idea what he was getting into. Peter Murphy was involved with the mafia, an older fellow already, he knew the Selwyn's growing up in Ireland but kept his distance did what was asked when called upon. Jamie became the man who tracked down the people in downtown apartments when they don't pay and he beats them until they agree to get the money. He's basically a glorified goonie, but he gets paid well and he keeps his distance. He's supposed to protect the heiress of Peter Muprhy's fortune, his little sister, but he keeps his distance from her. In his down time, he still bakes, the one thing that truly makes him happy. His favorite place to kick it is the local rat pack themed bar with friends. They all think Jamie is too sensitive for his work and maybe he really is just as passive as his father. Jamie's slowly losing his sense of self and not even the money he earns can help him cope. |
