He was going to surprise Miranda at her apartment with food and movies and everything in between. After their talk over the computer, something he had found himself enjoying more then he probably should have, he couldn’t help but want to see her again. With Miranda, everything seemed so much easier than people made dating seem to be. Yes, he was new to the whole ‘finding someone important’ but he could see himself happy with Miranda. She challenged him, and he liked that. He had to work to impress her, work to make her realize that he wanted to be around her as the man he was. For too long, he had hidden himself behind cruel words and bad tendencies, but now he was ready to break loose. So much time had been wasted trying to make everything easier, trying to deal with the issues that he had once hidden, and now the true Rhett was breaking free. Miranda had more to do with that than she would ever know, and he would never admit that right now. He didn’t want to scare her off, because he had a habit of scaring people off. [/style]Running his fingers through his hair, he patted his pooch on the head before departing out of the apartment, the door locking behind him. In the bag laced around his fingers were movies and candies, some her favorite and some of his favorites. In the other bag was fresh food he had purchased from the stands on the way back from work. He was going to cook her a delicious dinner and watch a movie with her. That was what friends, and people who wanted to be more than friends, did together. Or that was what he had been led to believe in the movies. The two hadn’t even kissed yet and he was captivated by her. It was almost as though she had cursed his being and made him believe that perhaps love was really out in the world. But he shook those thoughts from his mind, knowing that those thoughts would consume him when he saw her. He didn’t want to be a complete sap when he saw her; that wasn’t how he wanted to be portrayed. He was a man, and he did manly things on his spare time. But he knew that Miranda Charland would be the death of him. Her apartment wasn’t near his own, and he ended up taking a random taxi to the apartment area she was located. Grabbing the bags out of the back of the taxi and paying the driver, he got out and stood outside the apartment number she had given him. His stomach erupted into a fit of butterflies, but he swallowed them down his throat and entered the building. She had texted him the number, and soon enough he was standing right outside her apartment door. The bags were getting heavy, but he couldn’t bring himself to knock yet. Rhett had never been this nervous before, and they were simply going to watch a movie and do nothing else. So he swallowed his nervousness and his fear and knocked gently on the door. A grin appeared on his mouth as he patiently waited for Miranda to appear and open the door. | [/style] |
