of simplicity, or into a life of riches. he was the low man on the totem pole, as was his father, and his father's father. they were notorious for their poor, beggar ways, and ryker became familiar with street life at an early age. it's why it was never truly depressing for him. you can't want something that you've never experienced. while he wished for something better for himself, he knew in his heart that it was foolish. ryker is not a dreamer and he never will be. he's as realistic as they come and he delivers his points straight and razor sharp. he does not beat around the bush, and he never has. from a young age, he took initiative and that is a trait that he has been unable to leave behind. never an optimist, he views things as pessimistic as possible. his father taught him that. time is never wasted that way. ryker was thrown into a world of crime with the death of his mother. she wasn't a prostitute or anything of that sort, but her line of work wasn't honorable either. she sold the drugs that his father produced in whatever abandoned building they managed to secure for that week, or even that day. she had a pretty face and one that interested many men. but she was kind, and loving, so ryker knew what love was. he missed that the most out of anything. he still misses that the most out of everything. his mother was killed by one of her clients and his father was never the same after that. they might have been poor and they might have made their money illegally, but they were a close knit family. his parents did everything that they could for him and ryker knew he was blessed simply because he had the parents that he had. he never took them for granted, and when his mother was murdered when he was ten years old, he felt like a piece of him died along with her. his father had loved sarah unconditionally, and now lawry was missing her more than he ever thought he could. he couldn't move past her death, but he did know that it was important for ryker to still have that sense of family. he didn't want to ruin ryker because of his behavior, for lawry was sinking further and further into a drug induced depression. ryker took care of him, but he was much too young to deal with something like that. so lawry sold him off, paying off his drub debts and setting up a home for his son. he had sold ryker to the gang based out of the middle of leeds, england. ryker went willingly because it was what his father wished of him and he was forever respectful of his parents. they were the reason he had survived as long as he had. he had become skilled in the ways of thievery and the gang hounded in on those talents. they trained him to become a master thief, a master safe breaker. anything to do with stealing and ryker soon became an expert. his ability to pick up on new talents was astounding and when he focused in on learning something, he didn't stop until he learned it. its how he picked up on his insomnia. he would go days without sleeping in order to complete a task assigned to him because above all else, he didn't want to let anyone down. that is still a driving force behind his methods today, although it can be considered a horrible character flaw. despite his criminal ways, he has this innate need to please everyone around him. it's strange, to say the least. but his stealing quickly earned him respect among the ranks, and as he cloistered himself off with guys his age, they started forming their own little branch of the main gang. while he was rather shy and hesitant, his intelligence and his ability to think through a problem quickly earned him the leading spot to their riff raff group. he quickly gained confidence, and his street smarts became something to admire. living meal to meal, steal to steal, ryker was making a name for himself. when he was eighteen years old, he had a rather strong following behind him. it was so strong that the gang he had originally started off with gave him the ability to name and create his own sub-gang. however, not even they knew how strong it would grow. while ryker was a thief, and a good one, he truly didn't like stealing from the people who could not afford to give it. however, the main gang didn't share the same view points as he did. ryker's mother had taught him a sense of propriety, even though he was a criminal. she taught him values, she taught him what was right and what was wrong. and lawry had told him to always mind his mother. so he was honoring what her wishes would be. and his simple disagreement started the flames to a fire that he couldn't hope to extinguish. his following created a rebellion of sorts, since the main gang, which resembles the italian camorra. the camorra is a gang that ryker respects and adapts some ideas from. however the gang he first belonged to was not something that he respected. the leader became power hungry and blood thirsty and he began killing innocent people out of greed. ryker rebelled immediately, voicing his disagreement and rallying his people behind him. the rebellion sparked a revolt of a magnitude that no one expected. it left many murdered in cold blood, a fact that ryker has trouble living with still today. he knew that because of it, he couldn't stay in england. if he stayed it surely meant death. there were hardly any members left of the gang that he had created, called the system, but there were still the loyal few. packing them up quickly before they were killed, ryker arranged for them to move to the united states, boston, to be exact when he turned twenty three. for the past three years, ryker has been establishing a name for the system, battling for a place between the irish and the russian mafia. he doesn't want total control. he just wants what is right. and what's right is taking from the rich and creating a wealth for the poor and the middle classes. his focus is on controlling crime in the streets on his own agenda for his own reason. this time however, he's more careful. he doesn't want to have to get up and move again, so he keeps his face out of the limelight. no one knows who he is except for the five that came with him from england. his name is known, but his face is not. he's never seen, and if you do have a meeting with the illusive ryker morgan, it usually means you're going to die. to put it simply. ryker isn't really one for violence unless it's absolutely necessary, and sometimes it is. the blood bath in the middle of the underground criminal areas was something that has left him with memories he would rather forget, but there is nothing that he could do except make a better life for himself here. he knows he needs to remain a mystery, and while some view that as being a coward, he knows that it's the intelligent thing to do. he continues to breed peace throughout the ranks because he does not want a revolt. ryker is a gentleman at heart, despite his murderous abilities. he still remains the main thief for the system and it's simply because it makes sense for him to wear a mask while he's on a certain job. even if he is seen, he has an alias because it's safer and easier. he knows better. but the system is slowly growing and it's something that he hopes his mother and father would be proud of. everything that he has done has been done for them. his silence is out of respect for them, his way of living is for them. he is a respectful individual no matter who he is talking to, and many always question about the silent, brooding man at the back of the room. his alias is always given and people are usually satisfied. ryker is a tough individual who has not allowed his past to ruin him. instead he's grown from it and learned from it. he will not make the mistakes that his parents made, that his leader made. he's a learner. it's how he's survived, it's how he's adapted. he's good at what he does because he lives what he does. while he has many, he's much too busy donating it to charities under an anonymous name. he still lives on the streets because it's all he's known how to do. when he needs a place to stay, he breaks in. he's a free spirit and always will be. he's too independent to accept control and he would never live if he lost his freedom entirely. |
